FUTURE CURRENTS: LA RIVER

  • The Soraya 18111 Nordhoff Street Northridge, CA, 91325 United States (map)

Future Currents: LA River is a multidisciplinary project bringing attention to, and interaction with, complexities surrounding the Los Angeles River through creative practices, critical thinking and social engagement through the arts. On Friday, April 5th, 2019, The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) will host a multidisciplinary festival to culminate a year-long collaborative effort with our Director Lynn Neuman around the Los Angeles River and adjacent communities.

Future Currents: LA RIVER provides us way to both look at very complex issues and the interconnectedness of things. It is also a way for California State University Northridge to bring some understanding and awareness to how we are connected to this ecological zone and the demonstrate the voice that we can have in shaping the future of the river and by extension the future of the city...” -Lynn Neuman

Visioning Bodies, created for Artichoke Dance, will premiere at the festival, which takes place on the grounds of the Soraya. CSUN students will also perform Currents, a work created for them by Lynn, and select student choreographed work. Full schedule here.
