Proteus

Commissioned by the National Gallery of Art, Proteus, referencing the Greek god of the ocean, imagines a world submerged in water. Set to a re-envisioning of Vivaldiā€™s Double Concerto in F Major, Proteus juxtaposes lush strokes with quick precision and features costumes from plastic bags, at times engulfing the dancers, which serves as a reflection on the impact of plastic pollution on the ocean.

4 dancers, 15 minutes

Costumes: Yuki Okuyama and Lynn Neuman

Music: Adam Boreki after Vivaldi

Premiere: October 2017
