About the Artists
Kenneth Doherty is a member of the Art Students League of New York, where he has studied with Barney Hodes, Oscar Garcia, Marilyn Friedman and John Belardo. Working with Natsuki Takauji and Haksul Lee in the Art Students League of New York’s Works in Public program, he has developed an interest in the narrative potential of figurative art, and the challenge of using figurative art to address contemporary issues. He is delighted by the collaborative opportunity of working with the Artichoke Dance Company to bring attention to the threat that rising ocean waters will have on New York City and these environs.
Lynn Neuman is a choreographer and installation artist whose work speaks to climate change. She fuses her creative process and public performances with reflection and action toward an equitable and sustainable world. Lynn is an Association of Performing Arts Professionals Leadership Fellow and the only choreographer to receive the Marion International Fellowship for Visual and Performing Arts. As Director of Artichoke Dance Company, Lynn has created over 50 performance works that have been performed across the country. She is a regional organizer with Global Water Dances, advocating for the right to clean water worldwide, serves on the steering committee of 350Brooklyn and a member of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway Environmental Justice Coalition. She has found inspiration in The Raft and is honored to have her work performed in conversation with it.
