Artichoke Dance Company seeks artists to present their work at Eco Arts Festival 2026!

This opportunity is open to artists of all mediums that have a project or presentation that centers around the Earth, the environment, or ecology.

The festival will take place on Sunday, September 20 on Governor’s Island near the Climate Imaginarium on Colonel’s Row.

What is Eco Arts Festival?

The Eco-Arts Festival on Governors Island is a free public festival in New York City showcasing the work of visual and performing artists focusing on ecological and environmental themes and perspectives.  All activities will be held in the Climate Imaginarium hub residency house, located in Colonels Row, and on the lawn adjacent to the house, on Governors Island in New York harbor.

Realities of Governors Island

Governors Island is only accessible by ferry from Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan. We do, however, love Governors Island for their commitment to environmental and climate issues and the created space for environment-focused artists, thinkers, and activists.

Please consider this reality of transportation in what you're proposing. You will need to be able to transport what you need onto and off of the island without a vehicle.

Artist Selection and Compensation

Artists will be selected by a committee of eco artists working in various arts mediums/genres based upon the work and ideas shared in this application. The festival will be curated by the panel to create a balance of diverse offerings, experiences and perspectives for audiences. Selected artists will receive a stipend of $200-$600 based upon the scale and scope of the offering.
