Future Currents: The LA River - on-site experiences

Spend an afternoon along the Los Angeles River exploring, creating and interacting with our Director, Lynn Neuman, and Los Angeles sculptor Steve Appleton.

Events have limited space:

1-2pm - Harvest: venture into the dry riverbed to harvest arundo, a bamboo-like reed that grows in the riverbed. Register

2-3pm - Creation Workshop: work with LA sculptor Steve Appleton to create instruments and sculptural objects from arundo. Register

3-4pm - Movement Workshop: work with Lynn Neuman to learn choreographic approaches being used to create the Future Currents performance, which premieres April 5, 2019. Register

4-5pm - Listening to River Voices Discussion: Lynn and Steve will host a discussion with individuals who have worked with and around the river in alternative ways. Register

Future Currents: The LA River is a multi-arts project with Lynn Neuman and Steve Appleton in collaboration with The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts at California State University Northridge and the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication at CSUN to bring interaction with and awareness to the complexities surrounding the Los Angeles River.
