Artichoke Dance Company presents:

Immersive Performance Tours of Gowanus

June 13, 14, and 27 at 2pm

in Gowanus, Brooklyn

TICKETS: Tickets are priced at a Choose Your Own Rate from $10-$50. No one will be turned away for lack of funds! If the price remains not accessible for you, please reach out for a complimentary ticket.

WHAT IT IS:

Immersive Performance Tours of Gowanus bring audiences to sites in Gowanus that are significant to the superfund remediation of the canal and the rezoning of the neighborhood, both currently underway. At stops along the way, Artichoke Dance Company performs dance works that are embedded into the locations, reflect their significance, and envision a resilient future. Area community organizers lead the walking tour, providing specialized information specific to each tour.

WHERE IT IS:

This is a walking tour that visits several sites in Gowanus, near the canal. The starting location of the tour will be shared to ticket purchasers ahead of the event.

We will be walking around Gowanus for approximately 120 minutes, stopping at several different sites on and near the Gowanus Canal. Some of these sites have benches or other resting places, but not all do. Please dress comfortably to be outside, bring sunscreen, and bring any assisted mobility or seating devices that may make your experience more comfortable.

ARTICHOKE DANCE + GOWANUS:

This is Artichoke Dance Company’s eighth production highlighting Gowanus and involving area residents and organizations. Since 2023, we have hosted annual Immersive Tours of Gowanus, after hosting the Brooklyn Utopias Along the Canal in 2022, Just Gowanus in 2021, the Gowanus Visions Festival of Art and Action held in 2019, and Global Water Dances on the Gowanus Canal, held in 2017. Throughout every performance tour, we have also collaborated with local environmentally focused, community-based organizations and artists to bring awareness to, and involvement in, Gowanus.
